The International Working Test (often abbreviated as „IWT“) for Retrievers is a competition that tests the working abilities of retriever dogs.
Working tests were developed to evaluate the skills of hunting dogs in realistic hunting scenarios, without actual hunting taking place. Instead, dummies are used.
The IWT is the most prestigious working test on an international level. In this competition, teams from various countries compete against each other. Each team typically consists of three dogs and their handlers. The IWT challenges the dogs with various tasks, testing their abilities in marking, handling, and searching.
Being an international competition, the IWT draws many of the best retrievers and handlers from different countries. It’s an exciting event for both the participants and the spectators, showcasing the high standards and excellent work of these dogs.
